In addition to translation projects and donations, we have been working on a new way for you to help grow DWService. You can now contribute by providing a new node.
What are nodes ?
Nodes are a fundamental part of the experience as they allow the connection between the user and the agent. When the agent connects to the DWService infrastructure, it is redirected to the nearest node or to the less loaded one. In a similar way, when a user connects to the agent, he is redirected to the node where the agent previously connected.
In order for the user to have a fast session, agents must be connected to the nearest and most performing nodes. Thus, the more available nodes, the better. As nodes grow everywhere, many people will be able to enjoy a fast session. Also servers are less likely to be overloaded in specific regions.
The current active nodes are located in:
- Roubaix, France, Europe
- Chicago, United States, North America
How can I contribute ?
You can contribute by providing a server onto which we will install a new node. In order to guarantee a high-level service, we believe it is better to have a few nodes but with good specifications for each of them.
The specifications of the server must be:
- Server located within a web farm
- CPU: minimum 2 cores of 2.3 GHz
- Minimum 6 GB RAM
- Minimum 30 GB of hard drive storage
- Minimum of 256 Mbps bandwidth
- Operation system: Linux CentOS 7
Currently we need to limit the bandwidth for each session. Therefore, your help will be essential to reduce or eliminate this limitation.
If you want to contribute, contact us at staff@dwservice.net.
For the account that helps us we offer a maximum bandwidth of 9,4 Mbps (on best effort basis)
